SKILLS TAUGHT in the MONTESSORI PROGRAM

The following are the basic Montessori classroom Skills we will be working on throughout the school year.

SENSORIAL SKILLS (FOCUSING ON THE 5 SENSES)

pouring beans from container to container

pouring water from container to container

pouring beans and water through a funnel

opening and closing containers

buttoning, hooking, zipping, buckling

tying, braiding, sewing, lacing, beading

washing a baby doll

ask for / receive scissors / carrying scissors

carrying and rolling mat

carrying and placing a chair

washing a mirror or shell or other small object

dusting / sweeping

pink tower - graduates from smallest to largest

broad brown stairs - graduates from smallest to largest

using insets properly (stencils)

recognizes coins: penny, nickel, dime, quarter

understands concept: odd / even

understands concept: greater than, less than, equal

graduates from smallest to largest / shortest to longest or tallest

counts small beads in units from 1-10 and puts in order

counts tally marks

CULTURAL / SCIENCE

simple science projects (sink/ float, magnets, weights, mixing colors, condensation, etc)
